Artificial intelligence to transform the Colombian countryside

La importancia de la conectividad, la educación y la articulación de actores sociales para la implementación de tecnologías que promuevan el futuro de la agricultura en Colombia fueron algunos de los temas tratados durante el foro “La Inteligencia Artificial que potencia la evolución del campo”, realizado en el marco de la AgroExpo 2023.

Conectividad y tecnología para el agro

El ministro de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (MinTIC), Mauricio Lizcano, señaló que sin la tecnología no era posible transformar el campo colombiano. En este sentido, afirmó: “nuestro objetivo es conectividad y tecnología para cambiar la vida, así que estamos con propuestas concretas avanzando en conectar el campo". Agregó que, “si queremos que Colombia sea potencia mundial de la vida, debemos apoyar la reforma agraria, la economía popular y nuestros campesinos, quienes garantizan la producción y el acceso a los alimentos”.

De igual modo, Lizcano afirmó que Colombia tiene la necesidad de constituir AgroTECH para impulsar la digitalización rural, afianzar un campo productivo y sostenible, a través del uso de herramientas tecnológicas, que permitan el perfeccionamiento del trabajo del agricultor.

Ejes de trabajo

El MinTIC ha establecido ocho ejes para fortalecer el campo: la conectividad, la educación, los ecosistemas, la sostenibilidad, la innovación pública, los datos, el Internet y la Inteligencia Artificial.

En ese sentido, tomó relevancia el uso de la Inteligencia Artificial como una herramienta para potenciar la producción de alimentos. El uso de drones, sensores eléctricos, la gestión de datos y la cartografía de los cultivos son solo algunos de los recursos que se pueden emplear para garantizar el éxito de las cosechas, al tiempo que se reduce el impacto en el medio ambiente.

Vale destacar, que en la actividad participaron el ministro de TIC, Mauricio Lizcano; el director nacional de Tierras, Gerardo Vega Medina; la directora de la Agencia Nacional Espacial, Pilar Zamora Acevedo; y la directora de Agrodata, Carolina Huertas.
