What you need to know about soft credit for farmers

The Farm Investment Project application under the Farm Guarantee Trust is an opportunity for farmers throughout Uruguay seeking to carry out projects related to water sources and/or irrigation, as well as the acquisition of machinery and equipment.

This process is carried out in collaboration with the Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay (BROU), through the MGAP-BROU Agreement, granting guarantees through the Fideicomiso de Garantía de la Granja.

Application requirements

To access this credit line, the producer or his advisor must complete a web form providing the following information:

  1. Applicant's data Name, surname, RUT and contact information (cell phone and e-mail).
  2. Type of activity. Specify if it is Apiculture and/or Fruit and Vegetable Growing.
  3. National Registration Numbers. Indicate the National Fruit and Vegetable Register number (RNFH) and/or the National Register of Hive Owners (RNPC) number.
  4. Account at BROU. Specify whether or not you have an account at Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay.
  5. Amount requested. Detail the amount of credit requested in Uruguayan pesos or U.S. dollars.
  6. Type of investment. Select if the investment corresponds to water sources and/or irrigation, or machinery and/or equipment.
  7. Description of the investment. Provide a brief detailed description of the requested investment.

Application Process

  1. Online form. Enter all required information here.
  2. Proof of application. At the end of the process, the system will generate a PDF of the application confirmation that will include a unique identification number (ID) and a summary of the application data.
  3. Sending the documentation. Send the application form together with the following documents to the exclusive e-mail address: mfideicomisogranja@mgap.gub.uy. Required information includes:

- Proof of application.

- Identity card scanning.

- Proforma invoice and/or quotation from the installer of the equipment.

- Invoices and budgets of the works or improvements to be installed.

- Projected cash flow for the repayment period of the requested loan.

  1. Evaluation and communication. The team of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) will administratively and technically analyze the information provided. Subsequently, the Farm Guarantee Trust Commission will evaluate the relevance of the application and communicate the approval or denial.
