The Board of Directors of the Federated Agricultural Cooperatives (CAF) has unveiled its plan of celebrations to commemorate its 40 years of contributions to agricultural cooperativism in Uruguay.

Tribute to Rural Women: March 2024

In a significant gesture on the occasion of International Women's Day, CAF will kick off the festivities with an event dedicated to highlighting the achievements, contributions and leadership of women in various sectors of society. The activity seeks to inspire and promote the active participation of women, reaffirming CAF's commitment to gender equity.

The highlight of the celebrations will take place at the emblematic Legislative Palace on April 9, 2024. Under the theme "Four Decades of Cooperativism," the event will bring together members of cooperative partners, political leaders, agricultural sector leaders, media and allied institutions. The celebration will be an opportunity to discuss the fundamental role of cooperatives in sustainable development, highlighting the importance of collaboration in the collective construction of history.

Proposals for the Future: July 2024

As part of its civic commitment, CAF will present proposals to the next government in July 2024. This event, which has become a reference in the public agenda during electoral periods, will reflect CAF's internal reflection and contribution to the political debate on the agricultural sector.

40th Anniversary Book Launch: September or October 2024

In the fall of 2024, CAF will launch a book documenting the history of agricultural cooperativism in Uruguay. With 40 short stories about the federation and its member cooperatives, the book seeks to bring agricultural cooperativism closer to society in general, highlighting the principles and values that distinguish CAF. The launching event will bring together members, agricultural and cooperative sector leaders, as well as the media.

Year-End Closing and Future Outlook: December 10, 2024

The year-end Board of Directors meeting, scheduled for December 10, 2024, will be the last anniversary celebration. This annual event has established its place as a reference for the agricultural sector, bringing together government authorities, agricultural and cooperative leaders, producers, young people and cooperative technicians from all over the country.

The closing of the year will be attended by national authorities, including the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, underlining the importance of the dialogue between the government and the cooperative sector.

As part of a year of celebrations, CAF reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and its essential role in building a cooperative future in Uruguay.
