The Ministry of Environment of Uruguay announced the launch of the third edition of Expo Uruguay Sostenible, an exhibition to be held from June 6 to 9 at the Antel Arena. The event will be attended by the Minister of the Environment, Robert Bouvier (photo), and various national and departmental authorities, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and care for the environment.
Commitment to sustainability
During the launch, Minister Bouvier highlighted the topics to be addressed at the exhibition, which include water, circular economy, energy, biodiversity and the challenges of waste management, among others. It also announced the presence of 200 stands, of which 100 will belong to sustainable enterprises and civil society organizations, emphasizing the event's commitment to sustainability.
According to Robert Bouvier, the Expo Uruguay Sostenible will be a space for the exchange of experiences and good practices that promote changes in the link between society and the environment. In addition, the second edition of the business round, which last year facilitated 150 bilateral meetings between tractor companies and Uruguayan MSMEs committed to sustainability, will be held.
Recognition of environmental commitment
During the event, the National Environmental Awardwhich recognizes the work carried out by educational centers, civil society organizations, local governments and companies in favor of sustainability.
Minister Bouvier took the opportunity to pay special tribute to the first Minister of the Environment, Adrian Peñafor its fundamental role in the organization of the event.
Bouvier highlighted the importance of the Expo Uruguay Sostenible as a massive environmental education tool, which has attracted almost 40,000 people in previous editions. According to the minister, the Ministry of Environment has the responsibility to build environmental awareness and the Expo is a key piece in this effort, since "if not, we are not going to achieve real change".
