Lemon is a citrus fruit known for being rich in vitamin C, vitamin B complex, calcium, potassium, magnesium and fiber. It is one of the fruits most consumed in the world, commonly used in many beverages and gastronomic preparations. But lemon also has many other uses, some of which are little known.
Cleaning
Lemon is an extraordinary natural cleaner, its antibacterial properties make it an excellent disinfectant, its juice has the ability to kill bacteria, which makes it an ally when cleaning the kitchen and bathroom.
Likewise, citric acid helps to remove grease, stains and odors. It is very useful when degreasing pans, pots and other surfaces. To remove stains just add a squeeze of lemon in a container of water and apply it to the stain, then leave the garment in the sun for a couple of hours and the stain will disappear.
A very good trick is to place a few pieces of lemon peel at the bottom of the garbage can or in the refrigerator to counteract bad odors.
Personal care and beauty
The versatility of lemon is very wide, it is a great ally for hair and skin care. For example, if you want to lighten your hair you can squeeze the juice of two lemons in a liter of water and apply it on your hair, but try not to do it every day, just once in a while will be enough to have beautiful golden reflections. Lemon juice also helps to remove oil from the scalp.
Lemon helps eliminate dead skin cells, lighten dark spots, reduce the appearance of acne and blackheads. To do this, mix lemon with a little sugar, apply it on your face, let it sit for 5 minutes and then remove with water. You will be happy with how fresh your skin will be.
Emergency Trick. The citric acid in lemon kills odor-causing bacteria, so if you've run out or lost your deodorant and are in a hurry, you can rub half a lemon on your armpit.
Insecticide
Lemons have a strong odor that insects don't like. Cockroaches, flies, ants and spiders are just a few of the "bugs" you can keep away by squeezing lemon juice on baseboards, window sills and any crevices where unwanted little visitors can enter.
